Sunset of the Sabertooth: The Sorcerer’s Gift

  • So yeah, the Master of the Animals just threw down a rope to help pull them up.
  • OK, a woolly mammoth also helped pull the rope. And Annie decided the mammoth is called Lulu.
  • OK, for real, Annie? Sure mammoth is an M Thing, but Lulu’s a bit too big to be the M Thing.
  • But the mammoth bone flute could be the M Thing.
  • Yeah, even if the Master of the Animals does know Morgan, but he probably can’t talk. At least, not to people.
  • And now the mammoth is taking the kids back to the treehouse.

Sunset of the Sabertooth: Song on the Wind

  • And now they’re trying to track Peanut, but her footprints disappear after a bit.
  • Oh, fun. Now a sabertooth tiger showed up.
  • OK, it was there on the cliff one second, and now it’s not. That’s not good.
  • Even better. They just fell into a trap dug into the ground by the cavemen. Except they’re the ones trapped instead of whatever’s the cavemen were trying to hunt.
  • So now it’s the Master of the Animals and Peanut to the rescue.

Sunset of the Sabertooth: Cave Kids

  • So, yeah, this is the cave house now.
  • And Annie’s over here like “hey, let’s borrow their old coats.”
  • OK, so the coats are made from reindeer skins. Or a prehistoric equivalent. Or something.
  • So, they’re leaving their towels and swim goggles. Yeah, leaving those there would probably mess with history. I mean, that’s why Jack didn’t want to leave his backpack with the dinosaurs that one time, right?
  • Of course Annie’s trying to explore the back of the cave, and is just keeping on going while Jack’s getting the early lantern thing,
  • OK, so Annie just stumbled on a bunch of cave paintings of some animals.

Sunset of the Sabertooth: Brrr!

  • So, Annie just wandered into the back of the cave, and Jack freaked out before finding her.
  • Well, something is back there…
  • Yeah, it was the bear. And they’re lucky to have gotten out of there before it woke up. (I’m surprised Jack didn’t wake it up with all the racket he was making when looking for Annie.)
  • So, yeah, they’re still freezing, and they found another cave that looks like the cavemen are using as a house.

Sunset of the Sabertooth: Bones

  • So, yeah, now Annie’s freezing her butt off.
  • And of course they’re stuck there until they find the M Thing.
  • And they’re Somewhere in the Ice Age.
  • OK, so they’re going to get help from cavemen. And the cavemen are about to go hunting.
  • So, Annie wants to meet the cavemen, but Jack is worried the cavemen would freak out and attack them. Hey, Jack, I mean, what if they can give you guys, like, warm clothes?
  • OK, they just started using their swim goggles as snow goggles.
  • And now they’re wandering into a cave.
  • Oh, fun. The cave is full of bones. And it probably belongs to a cave bear.

Afternoon on the Amazon: Halfway There

  • OK, note to self: try not to get “Livin’ on a Prayer” stuck in my head because of that chapter title.
  • So, yeah. Now they’re home again.
  • Annie’s over here about to eat the mango, but Jack’s trying to remind her it’s for Morgan.
  • So, how is the mango not gonna go bad by the time Jack and Annie can find the other two Morgan Things? The treehouse magic?
  • So, wait, a moonstone, a mango… all M Things.
  • Annie apparently wants to keep Peanut as a pet, but the mom doesn’t like mice.
  • Seriously though, even with the Narnia-type thing where it doesn’t seem like there’s any time passing in the present Pennsylvania, it does at least take some time for the kids to run back and forth between the treehouse and home. So what do they tell the mom about where they go?
  • So, yeah, they’re talking about all the cool animals they saw while they’re going home.

Afternoon on the Amazon: The Thing

  • Oh, fun. Annie’s trying to find the Pennsylvania book to go home while Jack finishes his notes, but the book is gone.
  • So, the monkey is back. And apparently it was throwing fruit at them earlier because that was the Thing for Morgan.
  • And now they can find the book because it was invisible until they got the thing.
  • No, but really. How did the monkey know to help?
